这三名作者发现,总体而言,这些核对的论文中的4%含有这样的图片重复。不过,图片重复率从International Journal of Oncology期刊的12%以上到Journal of Cell Biology期刊的0.3%,其中后者从2002年开始系统性扫描已被接受但还未发表的论文中的图片。更高影响因子的期刊通常具有更低的图片重复率。
